Dear Parents/ Guardians and Friends,

The Crowning of Mary will be celebrated on Monday, May 7, at 1:15 p.m. The service will begin in the church and concludes in the school field- weather permitting. Our Eighth Grade students and Father Michael Woolley will lead us in prayer. Please join us!

 

Our Annual Learning Fair takes place on Wednesday, May 2, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Please join us and view the great projects!

 

The Annual GWCRS Walk-a-thon is Wednesday, May 9. The event rain date is May 11. Students in Grades 3, 4, 5&6 will walk four miles at the Dionne Track on Cumberland Hill Road. Our Seventh and Eighth Graders will walk a seven-mile route, using Mendon Road, Diamond Hill Road, Wood Avenue, Elm Street and Cass Avenue. As usual, hot lunch and snacks will be available in the cafeteria. Thank you for your continued support.

 

The PTO meets on Tuesday, May 8, at 6:30 in the school library to plan Field Day 2012, scheduled for Thursday, May 24 (rain date May 31). Everyone is invited!

 

Our Annual Fine Arts Night will be Wednesday, May 23 at 6:30 p.m. Please join us as we are entertained by our Good Shepherd School-Band and Choir. In addition, student artwork from all grade levels will be on display for viewing.

 

Friday, May 25, GWCRS faculty and staff retreat- NO SCHOOL for students.

 

Next time you visit our school, check out our new large-screen television in the cafeteria. The purchase and installation was made possible by the generosity of Scott Langley and Robert Saltzberg, of RESH Inc., of Franklin ,MA. Other projects funded by RESH Inc. include our new Computer Lab, and the ongoing painting of classrooms.

 

A new after-school activity, DODGEBALL, for students in Grades 3, 4 and 5, begins Thursday, May 3 from 2:45-4:00, under the direction of Mrs. Pelletier, gym teacher.

 

We have been asked to conduct a second Clothing Drive by Coats of Many Colors at St. James Episcopal Church. We will be collecting good, clean clothing and footwear from May 7-18. Clothing and footwear for newborn through adult sizes will be accepted any time during the school day.

 

Exams for Grade 8 take place the week of May 21. Exams for Grades 6 &7 will take place the week of May 28.

 

I will be taking our 4th Graders for a walking tour of Historic Woonsocket on May 22, and I will be walking with Grade 8 on May 29.

 

Academic Awards Night is scheduled for Wednesday, May 30 at 6:30. Join us, as we honor our top scholars!

 

Woonsocket residents, please be aware that NO BUSSING will be available on June 14 and 15. Out-of-town students will be bussed as usual.

 

We continue to accept registrations for 2012-2013 school year. Be sure to invite your friends and neighbors to join us. Invite them to “check us out”! Do not forget- YOU are our school’s best cheerleaders!
