Monsignor Gadoury

Monsignor Gadoury Catholic Regional School is located at 1371 Park Ave., Woonsocket, adjacent to Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church.

The school houses Pre-Kindergarten 3 and 4 year olds, and grades kindergarten through 2.  Maximum class size is as follows: Pre-K 3 year olds is 18; Pre-K 4 year olds is 20; kindergarten is 25 and grades 1 through 8 is 30. The kindergarten teacher is assisted by an aide when there are more than 20 students in a class.  Our kindergarten program runs the full day from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., while the Pre-K Program operates morning and full day sessions.

The faculty of six teachers (including two Pre-K teachers) each have self-contained classrooms.  Teachers use a written, integrated curriculum that focuses primarily on Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics and Religion.  Basic concepts in Science and Social Studies are also taught beginning in kindergarten. The curriculum was written by GWCRS faculty members and is reviewed and changed as needed.

Music instruction, physical education, art and library skills are taught to students in grades K-2 once a week.  A remedial reading teacher works once a week with students who have reading difficulties.

All students attend Mass at least once a month at our host parish, Our Lady Queen of Martyrs.

School uniforms are required for students in all grades except Pre-K, as are gym uniforms for physical education classes.

Extra-curricular activities are offered. Some activities have included a Games Club, an Arts and Crafts Club, a Knitting Club, a Japanese Braiding Club, 'Little Chefs' Club and Dance Club.

Certain remedial programs are available in school and through the public school system for eligible students.

A hot-lunch program is offered to all students most days of the week.

Free before school care is offered for students in our Pre-K 3 Year Olds Program through Grade 2 and is supervised by faculty members. Pre-registration is required. Drop-off time begins at 7:30am.

Bus transportation is a service provided to families by the city/town in which they reside. The Greater Woonsocket Catholic Regional School System is designated by both the Diocese of Providence and the State of Rhode Island as a regional school. Students in grades K-8 residing in Woonsocket must live an eligible distance from the school to receive bus services. Students in grades K-8 residing in Burrillville, Cumberland or North Smithfield, are eligible for busing through the Rhode Island Statewide Transportation System.
